• No. It is actually another wireless transmitter. When it gets a request over the internet, it effectively pushes a button on its own internal transmitter.

• No, the MyQ allows you to control your garage door through a cellphone app. It can also allow the garage to be controlled by Google or Siri. But it talks to the garage door opener’s receiver. So if your receiver is not working, the MyQ will not help you.
