- Answer It uses coffee pods and has an included one serving pod with steel mesh filter you can put loose coffee into.

- Answer The limit is 7-1/8 inches without the lid -- which is how you would pl;ace the mug under the machine. Many mugs fit, others don't. Great machine; if your mug is too tall buy another mug for it.
