No, that is not normal. It does come with a tray, but I would not recommend this product. The tray is not the easiest to keep clean.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not understand the question. I recently bought mine and the tray is built in. If you do not have a tray, the whole bottom part will be missing. This just has a built in tray/container with a handle that pulls out and a slotted flat crisping basket with a tiny handle for pulling it out. It is all nonstick inside and has no plastic. I think basket you are referring to is a different style from a different brand. The tray/basket is flat in this unit. I prefer this style over the plastic bucket styles in other brands.
