Chromecast with Google TV was designed, exactly, to make your non-smart TV a smart one. It works with any regular TV or a computer monitor that's having an HDMI port. And, together with the Voice Remote, you can play your favorite videos using your voice command with the Google Assistant. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Because smart tv's are not upgradable and I don't want to replace my tv every 2-3 years. I personally wish they would return to quality sets and stop trying to foist the smart tv infrastructure on us. Give me a quality set with good color ,symmetry, and resolution. I can add all the 'smart' to it I want. The roku's, chromecasts and other devices bring this tech to the tv for less than $100. If I really want something higher end, I can pair an HTPC to the set and get a lot more functionality. I guess the answer to your question is that most smart tv's hit the sales floor obsolete with low end processors and aren't great at delivering their 'smart' functionality. These are a step up from that. If you are happy with how your smart tv's apps and functions perform, you don't need it, but until you have it to compare, you don't know what is missing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a smart TV and bought this. It's a lot faster for searching and switching between apps. It's so easy to use and the recommendations it gives you with all your linked subscriptions are great.
