QuestionI am interested in purchasing these to contact my kids when they are out in their kayaks. Do they really float? Will I be able to reach them if they are out around a point in another cove that is about 2 miles?

- Answer Yes, They REALLY float and are totally waterproof and yes the range is great out in the open. We used them on a cruise ship and had service through walls, doors etc as well as when one was on the ship and the other was in the port.

- Answer Seriously??? No. They are great walkie talkies but nothing about them would suggest that they would withstand any type or electro magnetic pulse. In fact, I'd venture to say a good lightning strike could disable them.
