In theory you could connect it to a cigarette lighter, but it doesn't come with a cigarette lighter plug because it's intended for much heavier loads than a cigarette lighter can support. If you put your own cigarette lighter plug on it, you'd have to be very careful not to plug too much into the inverter, because if you go over about 450 W, you'll blow your car's cigarette lighter fuse. If all you really need is an inverter to plug into your car's cigarette lighter outlet, then buy a smaller inverter, like a 400 W one. If you really need 2500 W of 120v power, then you're going to have to hardwire this inverter with heavy gauge wire, or connect straight to a battery with big high-current alligator clips. I suspect the inverter's user manual will describe the size of wire you'd need. My own inverter is just 400 W, but I mounted mine on a plate of plexiglass custom cut to wedge up flat under my driver's seat & hardwired it down through the floor & over to the 12v battery, using an inline 20A fuse on the (+) wire near the battery. The front panel outlets & power switch are easily accessible by reaching down below the seat cushion, and the front panel is back far enough that cords plugged into it don't protrude out past the seat cushion. I don't use it too often, but when I do, it's very handy, and mounted the way it is, it's super-convenient and out-of-the-way.
