Q: QuestionI was wondering if Geek Squad could repair a laptop that's essentially...well, broken in every way possible? I found one of my old laptops and depending on what kind of work it needs, may be worth repairing even though it's an old model.

• A:Answer I have a desk top that is 6 years old and is on the old windows 8... I was having problems with a lot of things on the computer. Not only was the geeks in the store able to upgrade my windows 8, but also had a representative come to my house (i requested it) and helped me with some other items, so now my computer is working great. It is six years old, and will need to be replaced sometime, but for now, with all the work the geeks did in the store and at my home I won't need to replace it for quite a while.

If you just want to shut down your computer instead of shut it down, do not use the physical power button on the computer. You want to avoid using that as it can hurt the PC in the long run. To shut down the computer normally, right click the Windows Start Key in the bottom left and you'll have an option to shut the PC down directly above. I hope this helps. It'll be best fixed in the store's Geek Squad if you have one open near you. It can also be diagnosed and repaired in home as well. If you have Total Tech Support, the work in the store would be covered otherwise in the home, it would be a discounted service likely being $49.99. Without Total Tech Support, it's hard to say without knowing whether you can head in the store or not. We'd recommend giving your local Best Buy a call and seeing if their Geek Squad is open.
