No - it runs stand-alone. (It generally gets activated after installation via the internet, but I think you can even call Corel to get it activated.)

A common sense approach is usually the best approach. The use of the built-in HELP is something that is useful, but only if you learn how to properly read it, then apply it, and testing the various examples given.
