Air fryers are not as toxic to birds (large and small) as say a Teflon frying pan. There are many alternative air fryers that are Teflon-free and would recommend them if you have concerns about our feathered friends. Whereas most studies have found that air fryers are safe as long as the birds’ beak, feathers, or skin does not come into contact with the Teflon, I would still strongly recommend a Teflon-free air fryer despite this being a very impressive appliance for me. I also want to disclose that I am not a Veterinarian and I do not have a medical degree. This is simply what I have found online through several studies from universities and/or medical research thus far regarding your inquiry. I hope you and your bird buddy find the best suited appliance for your environment.
