The information that I have found on the Crock Pot website claims that the coating is not Teflon, but it is only described as a "proprietary non-stick coating". I too have wondered what coating is used, but I have been unable to locate any specific information; only the foregoing. I can say unequivocally that the non-stick properties thus far have been excellent, and the cleanup has been quite easy. I have also learned from other owners that the pot should not be cleaned in the dishwasher, as the caustic detergents cause rapid deterioration of the non-stick coating. Hand washing has been very easy, however.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is not Teflon, at least not Teflon like you're used to seeing on traditional Teflon pans where it is a coating on top of the base material of the cooking surface. This appears to be a metallic surface impregnated with non-stick materials (like the 'copper' cookers claim to be). It truly is non-stick. I have prepared Chicken Tikka Masala and barbecue chicken in mine, both with sauces that contain sugars that normally would be VERY sticky. The residue practically rinsed off with a stream of water onto the surface, clean up couldn't be easier.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not sure what the costing is but it absorbs food smells. I’ve tried all the tried & true ways to rid smells to no avail! Right now it smells like an amalgam of Spaghetti & cabbage. I’ve never had a coated pan do that & I can’t get rid of it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Their current ad/description states Stainless Steel and yet this is not stainless steel on the inside pot where cooking is taking place. I wanted stainless steel as the Teflon or Non stick coating will breakdown over time and there is speculation that this material could be harmful when digested. Not saying this as fact but do your own research and decide. It’s unfortunate they have mislabeled this product as I did not get what I wanted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NOT 100% sure but the manufacturer's website (crockpot.com) indicates the coating on their 6 qt multi-cooker inner pot as "The proprietary nonstick coating is 100% PTFE (Teflon) and PFOA free. Thank you.". The inner pot for the 10 quart multi-cooker is not yet available for purchase and I could not find any specific mention of the coating material in the owner's manual.
