A:Answer It most likely will work unless your laptop is a weird unicorn that only has an m.2 slot instead of a 2.5 inch drive bay. I see three scenarios that may describe your situation...
First scenario that comes to mind, you want to move your current files to a bigger drive, maybe switch from spinning disk to an ssd like this one. You will want to transfer your files from your current drive to this one if you are replacing your current drive - methodology is up to you. Easiest way would be to use a drive cloner, which are not difficult to find on sites like Amazon. You could also pick up an external sata dock, available on many sites including here at Best Buy. That method takes more time and effort to make sure things don't go wrong, but is considered a more legit method than cloning the drive. It realistically isn't that hard, but it can be tedious...
If your laptop has a second bay and you just want to expand your storage space, all you need is to open it up and see if there are any cables going into they drive bay. If not you may want to pick up a sata data cables and a power splitter. I doubt that this would be the case, though, if your laptop has a second bay.
Third hypothetical, you want to replace the current drive but with a fresh start. You'll want to make or buy some installation media, take out the old drive, pop in this one in its place, then load the install process using the media you have on hand. Best Buy usually has a bunch of usb installation drives on the shelf ready to buy and get on with your day.
In any case, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors!
