  • QuestionCan I grill a steak or chop with the bone in? will it scratch the teflon?

    Asked by ginnyhem.

    • Answer You can grill almost anything from steaks to sausages. The plates can be turned over to cook eggs etc. I use mine for anything i can think of to grill. Regarding the teflon, I have grilled several steaks with the bone in on it and it was fine. I hope that helps with you decision.

  • QuestionDoes this have waffle plates or can I buy them seperately?

    Asked by MammaCook.

    • Answer Yes, for between $18 and $35 you can buy them on Ebay or Amazon. They fit either the older versions or the 'face-lift' version (the one with the digital display and single knob). However, the waffle plates do not flip over and double as a griddle. There is only one usable side that makes only waffles. That's it. I hope this information is useful. Regards, Blu52

  • QuestionDoes this grill plate reverse to a griddle?

    Asked by Cocoacharm.

    • Answer Yes, just push the black plastic buttons on the sides to release the plates and (first making sure they are very clean) flip them. They easily click back into place by aligning the two notches with their respective fittings. Also, the Griddler 5 will lay open and flat to make a double size grill! AND, you can select different temperatures for each half of the appliance to accommodate different types of food. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Blu52

  • QuestionWith my George Foreman the grease drips into a pan. Where and how does the grease go

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer We have owned this grill for about 5 months now and I love it. My husband is actually cooking on it too (that is new, believe me!). The grease drips down the back of the base unit into a plastic well that is easy to pull out and wash with soapy water. It works well! We cook steaks, chicken, vegetables, hot dogs, panini and all kinds of grilled sandwiches with it. No smoke. And the grill plates pop right off and clean in the dishwasher. No big mess afterwards.

  • QuestionHow is the temperature set for each option? I had the previous model with the dials. I watched both videos, and it isn't clear. Thank you.

    Asked by Pat.

    • Answer Well, this is my least favorite feature of this newer griddle. First, keep in mind that the knobs features work kind of like an old digital clock. That is to say, once you have input one setting, it will automatically proceed to the next one, usually with flashing LEDs. After you have pressed the 'ON' button move over to the rotory knob. The display will flash GRILL or GRIDDLE at the upper left and right of the screen. Just twist the knob toward the selection you desire and then push the knob in until it clicks, and makes a little beep. Then move on the the rest of the settings such as temperature, or time. Twisting right will raise the temp, twisting left will lower it. After you set your proper temp push in the knob and then move on to time. Twist left to count down from an hour (auto off) or twist right to add time from zero in 30 second increments, push in to set the timer keeping in mind that it won't start until your preheat temperature has been reached then it will run to auto off when the timer runs out. The most difficult thing in this process is to get the preheat cycle to engage. . . but if you let the display flash about five times before pushing the knob in, it often helps. However, I have found the preheat function to be finicky and fickle. Despite this little flaw I enjoy my Griddler 5 very much, I hope you will too. PS sometimes it helps to let the grill cool and reset itself by just turning it off then back on. Sincerely, Blu52

  • QuestionDoes this appliance have a timer?

    Asked by travnlu.

    • Answer Yes. Once you turn on the appliance, you have the option to select the grill or the griddle. At that point you can scroll through temperatures in 25 degree increments. The preheat feature will tell you when it's ready to use. Lots of helpful beeps. The recipe booklet will guide you on the timing and temperature for commonly cooked foods.
