CPK-20 has an LED screen above the control panel/buttons. The screen shows selected temperature and what teas are suitable for that temperature. Can scroll through the temperatures, directly pick "Boil" or directly pick the programmed temp. The features and available temperatures and look, fit and finish are all very similar to the CPK-17, its the control panel and controls that are different (biggest dif is that the CPK-20 has the LED panel). With the CPK-17, I'd sometimes find the water hadn't fully boiled, because I hadn't noticed that some other temp button was backlit/selected. With the CPK-20, its easier to know for sure what temp its going for because its displayed in the LED. I like this. At the end of the day though, both great and do a similar job.

The difference seems to be in the display, with the newer version allegedly having six presets and/or the ability to have variable temperature settings between 160˚F to 212˚F (71˚C to 100˚C). OR for a less expensive model (roughly $30 less), there is the JK-17, which only boils water and has NO presets nor variable temperature settings. See pictures . . .
