• For coffeemakers, they think of "cup of coffee" as a serving size, not as an actual cup. Anyone who has filled a coffee pot from a water jug knows that the 14-cup carafe is not holding 112 oz (almost a gallon) of water. It seems like the correct answer is "1 coffee cup" = "5 oz" for most coffeemakers. There are even video demonstrations (of course there are) https://youtu.be/TuPmeZ7lB14

• I spoke with a Cuisinart Service Rep on the phone just now and she told me the "cup" size of the 14 cups is 8 pz. I have found some Cuisinart coffee products that say they are 8 oz. others say they are 5 pz. It appears that Cuisinart doesn't honestly report how much coffee their products make, because they don't seem to know what they mean by a "cup".
