No in terms of use case.
This unit provides 120 volts AC converted from a small DC battery and will only provide that power for a short amount of time, say 15-60 minutes depending on the current draw. A portable generator will provide constant power as long as the generator is running. Also, most portable generators I know of, are made rugged and designed to run outside, where is this device is NOT made for outside use, also, it's NOT made for constantly handling, it just won't last.

Both will provide power to run electronics, for example a computer. Theoretically a person could charge this device, unplug it and take it outside, then run a computer off of it until the power runs out (a short amount of time). And that concept would be similar to going outside, starting at generator and running a computer off of that, except that a generator will run all day on a small amount of fuel...
