- Answer Yes. The UPS is rated to 900w, so it has plenty of power. Also, it would be rare that your computer would ever use 550w. Most computers, under light use or idle pull less than 100w. You do have to be careful if plugging other devices in so you don't overload it. it does have an LCD screen that will show you the current load.

QuestionI am considering to buy this UPS for my two office desktop, two associated 22'' LCD screens and a printer. I wonder if this UPS will support all these electronics. If so for what duration. I have power cuts very often in my basement office.

- Answer This UPS is rated at 900 watts output. At half the load (450 watts) it will keep your devices running for 13 minutes. At full load (900 watts) it can supply power for 2 minutes. Note that the power draw versus up time is not linear. So you would need to add up the power consumption of all the devices you need running during power loss. For example, a typical 22 inch LCD display consumes between 25-35 watts. So worst case I would say you need about 70 watts just for your 2 displays. Add in the power for the printer and the 2 PCs. If it comes in around 450 watts, you can run for about 13 minutes. If it's closer to 900 watts then you'll have about 2 minutes - enough to save everything and power down gracefully.

- Answer Yes. If you leave it off, then the assumption is you don't need it. It will however charge while off as long as it's plugged in (obvious right).

QuestionDoes it have an alarm when the power goes out? I need one for my adjustable bed because when the power comes back on the bed goes flat and wakes us up.

- Answer Yes it has an alarm when the power goes out. The alarm can be turned off on the control panel so that it will keep your bed inflated without bothering you. (Until the internal batteries run down.) I have one that I use for my garage door openers and it has saved the day a few times.

- Answer The 1500VA has an "input voltage sensitivity" setting; here's how it's documented. From this it seems that you would select "low sensitivity" if you were running on a backup generator. Input Voltage Sensitivity Users can set up the adequate sensitivity according to the equipment and the power. Once the utility power is out of range by the UPS, the UPS will switch to battery mode to provide the power to the connected equipment immediately. The sensitivity options are explained below: Medium sensitivity is the default to the utility power. The low-quality power from the fuel generator may cause the UPS to switch the battery mode frequently. In order to avoid this condition, Low sensitivity is recommended. If the equipment required a higher quality of power, High sensitivity is recommended but may result in the frequent discharging.

QuestionIs this unit compatible with a portable generator?

- Answer Short Answer NO, I don't recommend it at all. Long answer... No and Yes... No in terms of use case. This unit provides 120 volts AC converted from a small DC battery and will only provide that power for a short amount of time, say 15-60 minutes depending on the current draw. A portable generator will provide constant power as long as the generator is running. Also, most portable generators I know of, are made rugged and designed to run outside, where is this device is NOT made for outside use, also, it's NOT made for constantly handling, it just won't last. Yes in terms of 120 volts AC for a short amount of time: Both will provide power to run electronics, for example a computer. Theoretically a person could charge this device, unplug it and take it outside, then run a computer off of it until the power runs out (a short amount of time). And that concept would be similar to going outside, starting at generator and running a computer off of that, except that a generator will run all day on a small amount of fuel...

- Answer You'll just have to do the voltage/wattage calculation. How much power does your pump draw? In a blind guess, I wouldn't expect this to run a pump for very long

- Answer We have Cyber Power on all our important devices and we have a lot of power outages at our place. They will stay on as long as the battery still has juice. It is suppose to shut the computer down before it looses power. When the power goes out the front of our Cyber Powers show how many minutes of battery power you have left. If I am on my computer I always have time to finish what I am doing and save then shut everything down. I think the one on my computer will run for 190 minutes before shutting off. I do not know if it will shut off two computers though. I have a separate UPS on each computer.
