The main differences between these two processors are the price and the performance. Starting off with the price, (this may vary as the time of writing this) the AMD 7 2700x is worth about $170 on Amazon, but you could probably find it for a better price somewhere else. The AMD 7 3700x is worth approximately $310 on Amazon, but again you may be able to find another deal. For performance, although they both possess 8 cores and 16 threads, the 3700x is better in overall performance, due to it being newer than the 2700x. So if you're looking for the budget one should go for the 2700x but if your willing to spend some more money for more performance then I suggest going for the 3700x. Nowe in my opinion if you are a "gamer" and are looking at something that is affordable at a very good price then I suggest you consider the 3rd gen ryzen 5 series of processors (especially the ryzen 5 3600x) There are also other processors that you may like when buying they can be found in websites like UserBenchmark that compares the prices to performance of different processors and even GPUs if you ever get stuck on making a hard decision.
