That's what I bought it for, I did lots of research before choosing this one. This computer is on sale right now so after my state taxes, I paid $1700. This machine, about the best you can get for under $2000. I will have to do more research, but I bet I could put in a work graphics card later, but they typically start at $1000. I cannot afford that right now. Here are some links and some reasons why I chose this one. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7800X-vs-Intel-Core-i7-7700K/m304816vs3647 http://www.velocitymicro.com/blog/need-best-cad-workstation-pc/ https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/System-requirements-for-Autodesk-Inventor-2018.html I installed all of AutoDesk's products on my SSD and have made it to where all other programs, IE games, school files, and other data, on my HD. The SSD makes loading the programs faster. When looking at the requirements for inventor, you can see a min and a recommended amount, so I like to try and shoot for the recommended. Other things to consider are the motherboard and ram, both are fast and seem pretty good so far. Also remember, most of the processing will be done with the CPU, not the GPU, the GPU will help the CPU, and it will help with rendering so it will look smooth, not jagged on you screen. Hope this helps, just let me know if you have more questions.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This model is fully capable of running 3D design software. Just keep in mind the more intense the work the more you will notice the PC change in performance. Keep in mind rendering regardless will take a while as its no simple task for any computer.
