• I would go for DisplayPort because DisplayPort has less latency and is newer technology. If you want to go the HDMI route then I recommend you have HDMI 2.1 or better ports on your display.

• It really depends on your monitor. I use HDMI when gaming, because that way my monitor will take advantage of FreeSync and I'll get 4K at 60 Hz, which is what the monitor's HDMI port can provide. FreeSync will also work only on HDMI with my monitor.
