“Would this camera work in a hotel room? If so what all is needed. We do a lot of traveling and sometimes have to leave our dog in the room by herself and need to know if this unit or what unit would best suits us for traveling.”

I believe this unit should work in some hotel or temporary settings. You will need either a cable or the WIFI security information to make it work. Some hotels require users to agree to terms before being connected to wifi, this environment may be a problem for this unit. In this situation, I suggest using a network cable if available.

If the hotel doesn't make your computer go to a special landing page where you agree to terms and conditions you should be fine. If it does requires a click through webpage, I don't know how you would authenticate the webcam without some sort of intermediary device. You can buy an access point device or use a laptop to get around this issue, but the setup would be more complicated and it makes it more expensive.
