Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this computer has USB ports, so a USB external disc drive will work. I just tested a music CD and a DVD with my USB disc drive, and both played. Depending on your file types, if the player that comes with the computer doesn't work for your movies, you may need to download a different media player.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Generally speaking, external cd/dvd drives that plug in via USB are an option for a laptop with USB ports. However, this computer uses a limited S Mode version of Windows, so you won't be able to install software from outside the Microsoft Store, and I don't know how that will effect the driver installations for an external CD/DVD drive. Theoretically, you should be able to use the "Exit out of S Mode" option to switch to a fully functional Windows Home OS that would permit software installation, but mine gave an error every time I tried, so I returned it before trying to use anything that would require driver installations.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.P.S.: In case you haven't heard, most media is now available to stream (listen to over the web), bypassing the need for CDs and DVD. For audio, CDs are still slightly better quality than streaming services, but only marginally so, and most people will probably be incapable of differentiating between the two. On the other hand, video streaming is higher quality than DVD, though not as good as Blu-ray, so you would have to get an external Blu-ray player to benefit from it. Furthermore, many companies that sell the physical media will also grant you the right to stream the same, allowing for both greater flexibility and high quality simultaneously.
