The answer to your question -- no, there isn't one -- slot for a security cable lock, that is. I've been there, wanting to help my son keep his laptop safe. For us parents, it seems we want to help our kids keep their stuff safe, but I found, much to my chagrin, that security cable locks don't offer much protection. At best, it gives a false sense of security. Getting through one of these security locks (esp. Kensington) takes about 15secs. Also, your son is probably not going to use it a whole lot since he is probably going to be moving from one class to another, around campus, with his laptop in his bag. You are better off with installing LoJack for laptops on his laptop. [ Shhh! It also serves as a tracker :) assuming your son is carrying his laptop with him.]
