Crucial is apparently the ONLY brand of memory outside of Dell memory that can be used to upgrade this machine's RAM memory. I removed the installed 16 GB memory stick, and installed two 16 GB Crucial brand memory in a kit I bought from Amazon, and it worked. Therefore, my new Dell Inspiron now has a total of 32 GB of memory. My guess is that Dell buys its RAM memory from Crucial.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased a CORSAIR - VENGEANCE LPX 64GB (2PK x 32GB) 3200MHz DDR4. That did not work. The machine would not boot. I contacted Corsair support and confirmed the kit is compatible with the Inspiron's chipset. Corsair sent me a different 64GB kit. That was also unsuccessful. I called DELL. After going back and forth they basically said, only DELL memory is supported. DELL is selling a DELL 64 GB kit for around $700 ($500 dollars if purchased it during the call). Anyways, I looked around in different forums and others are unable to expand their Inspirons using 3rd party memory modules. I am trying one last kit from Crucial. Their site says it's guaranteed to work with DELL - we'll see. I hope this helps future buyers. I am very disappointed with DELL's stance on 3rd party memory upgrades.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.SPARKY32L is correct. This Dell 3910 has two memory slots, but it will NOT allow upgrading of the RAM memory of the same DDR4 and 3200 MHz specifications. It will only operate with the one stick of 16 GB memory supplied with the original purpose. This is not sufficient for the rendering of video when editing digital video. After several attempts to upgrade the memory of the identical specifications, it will not boot at all. Period. That's the sad fact whenever trying to upgrade the memory in this Dell Inspiron 3910.
