They say there is a warranty for a year. When I got my Latitude E6430 I discovered a month after I received it that the battery would only last 1 hour. The refurbisher sent me an e-mail as follows: "The battery is not the original battery that came with the laptop when it was brand new. It was replaced by a generic refurbished battery as the original one was dead. Industry standards for refurbished batteries guarantee one hour of use and anything under that, we will be more than happy to replace. If the battery you currently have does appear to have an one hour or more charge to it, please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that the replacement will last longer than the one that you currently have. If you would still like to have the battery replaced, please let us know and we will begin processing a replacement for you." Nothing in the best buy website says that a refurb battery is considered "ok" if it lasts only an hour. What bothers me the most is the refurbisher also says that if you open or change anything in the laptop it voids the warranty! I would go buy a new Dell battery so I can actually USE this laptop when travelling or away from a plug (thats what laptops are for, right?) But they will void my warranty if I fix it properly, and will only replace the battery with another one that is no good? Not acceptable. If I had paid for the supplemental geeksquad warranty, and bought a new battery, I'd have spent as much as a comparable new Latitude would cost....instead of a previous generation one with a voided warranty and a good battery that I had to replace myself for the same total price. I guess thats what I learned from buying a refurb. I want to say people (or at least Joysystems the refurbisher) are sleazy, but all I can do is say "buyer beware"...and try to get bestbuy to take the RMA and refund my money. Not happy :-(
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here is the definition of "Certified Refurbished" A Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. This Particular Dell is listed as "Refurbished". Perhaps if you call Best Buy, they may be able to tell you if this Dell is Certified Refurbished or just Refurbished.
