A:AnswerYess it is fairly plug and play but it depends on what plug and play means to you. You will have to follow some easy instructions from the setup guide on the initial boot up of the reciever. Just make sure you have a HDMI hooked up from receiver to TV to see the on screen setup display.
A:AnswerYou would have to put the 2 other rooms as well as your main rooms front left and right speakers on the switch box AND listen in stereo or all channel stereo mode. This isn’t ideal but it would work assuming your switch box has impedance matching built in.
A phono amp is only needed for a turntable that does not have one built-in. You will be able to connect your CD player to the unit via an analog RCA connection or an HDMI connection.
