Q: QuestionThought I was ready to finally upgrade (after years of waiting), but now I hear these new AVRs aren't fully HDMI 2.1 (readiness for next-gen gaming in doubt and 4k/120hz passthrough is unreliable). Can someone with knowledge on the matter please advise?

• A:Answer This is accurate - the current HDMI 2.1 chipset in this receiver is unable to pass through 4K/120hz from a console like the Xbox Series X. It's possible to connect the console directly to your TV and have it pass audio to the AVR with eARC, but it's not ideal. This only affects 4K/120 output, so you could also drop the console settings down to 4K/60 ... but that's not why you got it, right? Denon claims to be working on a solution, but there's no word on what that means yet.

Q: QuestionProblem: Samsung QN90A only one HDMI 2.1 port and a separate HDMI 2 eARC port. 4k/120 HZ play I connect the PS5 to 'Game' input (AVR HDMI 2.1) then AVR 8K output to TV HDMI 2.1 INPUT. right? How to connect the TV eARC back to receiver for TV apps audio?

• A:Answer This is likely a question better suited for Samsung. It could work if you use the AVR's Monitor Out 1 (ARC) for ARC transmission and then uses Monitor Out 2 for 4K/120 pass through to the TV. You would then have to switch inputs on the Samsung depending on what you want to do. The AVR would be set to Auto(Dual) for the HDMI Outs, so both would be active. I would certainly seek a second opinion from Samsung on this one, as their TV appears to be the device with the most questions hanging over it with what you are hoping to achieve.

• A:Answer Zone 2 is assignable. 5.1-channel (bi-amp connection for front speaker) 2-channel (Pre-out) I would like to mention that the AVRX3700H does have a pre out section for all channels.

• A:Answer Hello and thank you for your question. The Denon AVR-X2700H has one 8K HDMI 2.1 port. We do offer an external HDMI switch that provides three 8k HDMI 2.1 ports. Model number AVS-3 that can be added to the AVR-S2700H.

Q: QuestionWhy doesn’t receiver just pass through (not asking about up-converting) video from older DVD player connected via component video? If you still need component video OUTPUT from receiver to TV to get video on TV, what’s the use? Why not connect DVD to TV?

• A:Answer Hello, please consider the Denon AVR-X4700H for component video pass through from HDMI. HDMI is a digital connection. Component video is analog and requires to be converted from analog to digital to pass through. This feature is found in the AVR-X4700H and above. For the 2700, a separate component video will need to be connected from receiver to TV.

Q: QuestionI want to connect a cable DVR, blue ray disc player, laser disc player, a record player, a cassette player, an Apple TV 4K, an alexia echo dot, and a VCR. I plan to control with harmony elite remote. Will this receiver handle it?

• A:Answer Yes, the cable box/DVR, Blu-Ray player and Apple TV will all use HDMI. The Dot connects over WiFi. The cassette player, turntable and laser disc player will all connect analog. The VCR will also connect analog, but you will need a 2nd connection from the AVR's Video Monitor Out to the TV (composite - yellow) as this AVR does not support Video Conversion. (This feature takes the composite video input and converts it to HDMI level for the output) That feature starts in our X4700H.

Q: QuestionIf I want to set up a 5.1.2 speaker setup with this receiver, can I use the HEOS wireless system to add two wireless rear speakers and then have all the front/height speakers be wired?

• A:Answer Hello, HEOS speakers can be used as wireless rear speakers on select Denon Home Soundbars; however, they cannot be used as wireless rear speakers with our AVR receivers.

• A:Answer Hello, first check the HDMI control function (CEC) setting in the TV and the receiver. CEC will need to be activated for ACR to function correctly. If using an optical cable, set your TV audio to external.

• A:Answer Hello and thank you for your question. SACD through HDMI depends on both the player and the receiver. The receiver does need to support DSD via HDMI. The AVR-X2700H does not support DSD. I recommend the AVR-X3700H. The AVR-3700H does support DSD via HDMI.

• A:Answer Yes, the AVR-X2700H is a 7.2 receiver. It has 2 subwoofer pre outs. You can connect 2 subwoofers. The subwoofer connections can be found just above the speaker terminals. PRE OUT subwoofer 1 and 2.

Q: QuestionI thought I read from Tidal Music Streaming that Denon components included Tidal. But I don't see it listed as a feature anywhere. If I have a subscription to Tidal, can I stream it through this receiver?

Q: QuestionHaving issues passing any video above 560K through the X2700H receiver to my TV from multiple devices - Sony Blue Ray Player, Virgin Media 360 box. I get sound but no vision. I verifed the HDMI cable handles 1080 direct from each device to TV. Any ideas?

• A:Answer Hello. The earliest of HDMI cables are 1080p compliant, so the problem could reside within your HDMI cabling. This sounds like it could be an HDCP issue. The way to tell if this is the case is to upgrade to HDMI Version 2.1 cables. In particular, cables from brands like Audioquest, Metra/Ethereal, Vanco and Celerity. These brands make what have proven for us to be dependable cables with the newest technologies. We have had much better results with these brands over (for example) the Amazon Basics and Monoprice cables.

• A:Answer Hello, the second HDMI out is a Monitor Two out, not a Zone Two out. This will only output the same as the main zone. Zone two audio is possible with the AVR-X2700H receiver allowing the playback of two sources simultaneously. If wanting zone audio and video, please consider our AVR-X3700H or new AVR-X3800H receivers, as they come equipped with Zone 2 HDMI out.

• A:Answer For streaming video, I recommend connecting a streaming source like a Firestick. The provided Ethernet connection is intended for Firmware updates, smart home features, and streaming music.
