“Can you run a 7.2.2 without the use of any external amplification? I have 2 front channels with dolby atmos firing at the top, a center channel, 2 side surrounds, and 2 surround backs. Cheap 2 ch. amp options in case I run 7.2.4 later?”

• Hello and thank you for your question. Yes the AVR-X3700H can run a 7.2.2 setup. Go to settings>Audio>Manual setup>speaker configuration. The Auto calibration will also walk you through this with Audyssey. I recommend the Marantz MM7025 2 channel amplifier for when you decide to upgrade to 7.2.4

• Yes, since this A/V receiver has 9 channels, you do not need an external amplifier to set up 7.2.2 now. You can then expand (as I did) to 7.2.4 by adding an external amp later. The Denon online manual explains this.
