Thank you for your question. First, depress the dirt cup release button where it says filter. Hold the dirt cup over a trashcan. Grasp the filter and gently pull the filter basket out. From there the old filter can be remove and cleaned or thrown out. Replace the new filter by placing it in the filter basket and replacing it in the dirt cup.
