No, you do not need to have a license to use this drone for recreational purposes. It is below 55 lbs in weight so it still falls within the recreational drone category. You do however need to complete a short online training course called TRUST that the FAA requires, there is no cost to take this and can be done at home. Being that this drone is over 250g it must be registered with the FAA. To determine if you can fly this drone to inspect you roof, you can download the B4UFLY app to view airspace restrictions. You do not need to be in possession of a drone to determine this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The app should give you a notification if you aren’t able to fly in the area. To be sure, you can always call in, explain the situation, and verify that an approval is not necessary. I believe you only need to be FAA certified for commercial use of the drone so inspecting your own roof should be just fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Near a airport probably but this drone is way overkill if you want to inspect your solor panels check out the mini series they would be more than capable for your job and no faa license
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - a license is required due to the weight of the drone. Licensing requirements are based on the weight of the unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Legally You need a Part 107 license to operate this drone, and to request clearance to fly within 5 miles of an airport, realistically you should get a mini and just don't go more than 20' over your house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need to register it with the FAA. But, don’t tell anyone that you’re planning on inspecting your solar panels, because legally, you’re supposed to have your Part 107 license to do that. (You need that for doing anything outside of “fun”).
