The original DJI Mini operated on the WiFi signal, so was good for around 300feet. This Mini 2 gets OccuSync from its bigger brothers providing up to 10km (6.2 miles) range (optimal conditions, unobstructed, etc). With that in mind, when flying in the US, the FAA requires visual line-of-sight to be kept on all drones. There's also.a height range restriction they impose. At full tilt speed, the Mini 2 will need over 15 minutes to fly those 6 miles. An exhaustive full throttle hustle means the battery will last far shorter than its usual ~30 minute flight time. The DJI Fly app will usually calculate the real-time distance of the drone combined with how much battery juice is left as it throws out return-to-home warnings.
