I have three dogs and it copes pretty well...so much so that I was surprised that it didn't get tangled up with dog hair or that the dogs would attack it. We set it going the first time with the dogs in the room. They went to investigate, but as we weren't seeming interested and it didn't move fast enough to be seen as a toy, they just flopped into their beds. After the clean, the dirt in the little cannister was embarassing and I had not long vacuumed the floor! It cleaned pet hair off wooden flooring, rugs and carpets equally well. I clean the little bristle sweeper every other time just to keep it efficient. You have to tidy doggy toys away or they can be partially munched by the machine (or mounted!).
