I have hardwood floors and large area rugs. The auto adjusting feature does not work for me. The vacuum sucks up the rugs and makes it impossible to move. I am extremely dissatisfied with this vacuum.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No it doesn’t. Very disappointed as it sucks so hard on some large area rugs you cannot move the vacuum. Have tried brush on, brush off to no avail. I may try putting some shims on the bottom of the head to reduce the vacuum pressure when I figure out how to attach them. Otherwise I may just trash this one and try something else. A waste of money at this point.

I've been impressed with how it adjusts from carpet to tile, etc. Just be careful if you move onto a throw rug. There's a button to push to turn off the beater bar - otherwise it sucks up the rug!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dyson needs to include a manual vacuum head adjustment as some low pile carpets get sucked into the head stopping the roller. These are carpets that need the roller to help remove the debris from the carpet. A 1/2 inch height adjustment should resolve this and be easily added by Dyson. Put a flip switch on the vacuum head itself that raises it up higher off the carpet.

There is not an option to adjust the height manually. It does have a self-adjusting cleaner head which will automatically adjust between the different floor types.
