Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your DC40 Multifloor has 200 air watts of suction power; the Dyson Ball Multi Floor that you are looking at has 270 air watts of suction so that will be the first thing you notice. Performance wise, both are going to be very similar. Both models have Dyson ball technology, a self-adjusting cleaner head and the ability to turn the brush bar on/off. The model number of the new machine is a DC65/UP13. It's not the newest released Multi Floor upright, but it's still one of our best-selling Multi Floor models. The "animal" tool that we have for our uprights would be the Tangle-Free turbine tool, which will attach to the wand/hose of this machine and is available to be purchased separately. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
