I use the Dyson Cool Me as a Fan and Air Filter. It can direct a strong air stream horizontally in a sweeping motion or blow upward in a cone. The filter seems to help hold down my allergies a little.

It is a fan purifier .........the air intake is filtered out and circulating through air multiplier technology leaving the air coming back at you purified. If you are not wanting a fan blow (purpose for this product) then you are better off purchasing a Dyson fan with a back blow to purify the area.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Che. If I understand your question correctly you wish not to use the fan functionality of the device and just filter the room? It all works off of the fan function as far as I can tell with the HEPA filter built into the main device so no it will not filter without blowing air. But you could aim the airflow away from you if that is what you desire.

In order to purify the room air, the unit does need to be turned on, to at least level 1. This will allow the unit to draw in air, purify it through the filter, and expel that purified air in to your room. You can, however, precisely control your airflow by adjusting the position of the dome to angle airflow lower, or higher. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
