Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Dyson Cinetic upright and canister models do have a filter, however that filter does not have to be cleaned or maintained, thanks to the Cinetic cyclone tips, which allow more dirt to pass through to your dust bin. The Ball Animal 3 will have two filters; one within the cyclone and the other inside the side ball. Those filters would need to be cleaned every 3 months to help the main perform optimally.
