• Hi this is Jessica with Dyson Customer Service. Thank you for your inquiry. Aside from color the DC39 Multi Floor and DC39 Animal are identical with one exception. The DC39 Animal includes an additional tool, the Tangle Free Turbine. The Tangle Free Turbine Tool is effective at removing dust, dirt and pet hair from upholstery, stairs and hard to reach spaces. • Absolutely nothing with the vacuum- has all to do with accessories

• It doesn't have the special feature to clean the pet hair out of the beater. The animal Dyson would be a must if we had pets

• the dc39 animal has a special attachment to use if you have a lot of animal hair to vacuum ( Golden Retriever Hair). The regular dc39 has great suction and is definitely adequate for short haired dogs and fulfills my needs without this special attachment.
