Instead, it operates using a trigger button that you need to hold down while using the vacuum. This design helps to conserve battery life, as the vacuum is only on when you're actively using it. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Several people make a big deal over the fact that you have to constantly pull the trigger. However, it is ergonomically located and extremely easy to press. I believe someone with arthritis would be able to operate this without pain. If you can hold the handle, you can press the trigger along with holding the handle.
