I would not use the Dyson Cool Air to replace an air conditioner. While the unit is a very effective air purifier, it does not have a compressor and therefore, does not provide the cooling function like an air conditioner unit would. It does not dehumidify and it does not lower the temperature of a room. Dyson's use of the term "Cool Air" simply means it's not heated air (some of their units do heat the air). It does provide a cooling effect, however, but it's the same cooling effect you would feel if a standard room fan were blowing on you. This unit's claim du fame is its air purification capabilities . . . not its room cooling capabilities.

Air conditioning units and the Dyson Air Multiplier™ technology are two very different products that work in very different ways. An air conditioner refrigerates the air it supplies, allowing the air in the room to be made cooler than the ambient temperature outside. The Dyson Air Multiplier™ technology cools a person by moving air over and around them. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Support
