Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for your interest in the Dyson TP04 Pure Cool Link. How often the filter needs to be replaced does depend on how often it is used. Typically if you use it 12 hours or less per day, it will need to be changed every year. The machine will provide you with notification when the filter needs to be changed. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So I didn't find anything in the documentation about how often to replace filters, but unless it's on a timer, I believe it depends on the air quality. If the air quality is very low and the filters have to do a lot of filtration, then it'll likely need replacing sooner. In my house, the air quality detected has been good so far and I believe that will prolong filter use. Another factor might be the lifespan of a HEPA filter and carbon filter if there is such a thing. I will have to ask Dyson though and see what their thoughts are.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The burndown of my filter lifetime was linear and took what appears to be exactly 1 year from when I started using it. It does not appear to be related to any actual metrics gathered by the machine, such as pressure or measured filter effectiveness. It is likely that it would tell you to replace your filter in one year no matter what the actual lifetime of the filter in your environment is. This makes perfect sense if you are in the business of selling filters, not much sense otherwise.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Normally a particle filter uses pressure drop to determine when the filter needs to be changed. As for the charcoal filter used to remove VOCs (?) the machine likely measures influent and effluent VOC concentration, possibly with a photoionization detector (?). When the effluent concentration exceeds a factory set limit, that likely triggers a filter changeout message. Does anyone know if this is how this machine works? What I cant figure out either is the reason both the particle and VOC filters are changed at the same time. It seems highly unlikely that they would both become fully loaded at the same time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is dependent on how often the purifier runs and how dirty your air is. It has a built in monitor that indicates the remaining filter life of both filters. The best way to maximize life is to keep in on automatic as it will only run when it is needed based on air measurements.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to a Dyson US YouTube video, they state in 30 seconds that the filters need to be changed once a year based on usage of 12 hours per day. They also recommend using auto mode as it only filters air when needed. How you use the unit will probably have the biggest impact on filter replacement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Machine has indicators of filter life, mine still show 100% (separate indicator for fiberglass and carbon filters). I guess it really depends how often it runs and how much contaminants it removed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased the cool air filter TP04 in Feb 2021 and the filter indicated a need for replacement in August 2021. I live in a small 1 bedroom plus den condo. I run it on a low setting 24 hours a day. I didn't realize how polluted the air here is on the 31st floor, but I do have one cat that creates more hair and pollutants. I absolutely notice more allergens as soon as the dyson filter indicator has turned on. Moving forward, I'll be turning off the dyson filter while I'm out of the condo to preserve the filter longer.
