Hello Nick, this is Kelly with Dyson. This actually depends on the model number of the machine with relation to the main body. The SV14 model numbers do NOT feature a click-in battery, but rather that battery will stay in place on the machine with small screws. The SV15 model numbers do have the battery that clicks into place. Best Wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

I have an 1850 sq/ft house and only 2 Rooms have actual carpet and the rest of the house has area rugs on. But sometimes I need the turbo and of course that takes more battery power. It is nice to have an extra battery on hand just in case you need it. But yes...you can by a spare battery and it’s easy to switch out
