No way for me to know for sure, of course, but given that you already have three thermostats, I suspect they connect to a zone control board in your HVAC system. That board, then, likely controls which ducts air can and cannot move through, and also determines fan state and calls for heating or cooling. IF that is true, your zone board needs input from each of your thermostats. One Ecobee, in that case, will not replace all three thermostats. The Ecobee remote sensors provide for a sort of "virtual zoning" and do not directly integrate with a hard-wired zoned system you might have installed. For full effect, you would have to replace all three thermostats with an Ecobee.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 2 AC/Heating units. I needed 2 Ecobee thermostats to ensure the balance of the temperature. If I had 1 Ecobee and tried to use sensors to balance the temperature, it would not be able to connect to the standard AC thermostat to increase or decrease temperature. It would only use the unit that the Ecobee is connected to. Sadly this will not work without having one on each unit. However, this would allow you to set up zones to set different temperatures or different schedules throughout your house. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1 ecobee and 3 smart sensors will do
