- Answer Yes, you will still need a Cable Modem. You can either rent a Cable Modem from your ISP (Xfinity, WOW!, AT&T, etc...) or you can buy your own and they will provision it for use. These Eero 6 systems act as a Router AFTER your Internet connection, which is provided by the Cable Modem. You will connect the Eero 6 Router (any any Router for that matter) to your Cable Modem via an Ethernet cable. These Eero 6 units will provide a DHCP Server (providing IP Addresses to your wired and wireless clients), a switch (as they have a second Ethernet port that you can connect to a wired computer or to another Ethernet switch), and they also act as a Wireless Access Point (providing 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax coverage inside your house).

QuestionDo I have to have internet to get this? I am looking for a device that I can get wifi without having internet. I want out of spectrum. They raise our bill by $10 every couple of months and need something cheaper.

- Answer An eero will not help. The gateway/head eero needs to have access to the internet via an ethernet port. T Mobile does not show an ethernet port on that device. Also, the eero could only provide the speed that it is provided by the internet connection, it won't be able to feed out more internet speed that it is given.

QuestionCan I connect two of the Eero's together with only one of them being hardwired? I current have an Eero 6 and have both the internet line coming into the my office, then want to connect my printer (non-wifi enabled) to a second router/gateway.

- Answer Yes, with two eero routers you will have one hardwired to the internet/modem, the other can wirelessly connect to the head/gateway eero. You can hardwire a PC or printer to that wireless eero and it should work fine.

QuestionCan I name this new router with the same name (SSID) as existing router? I have been told if routers are the same name with same password your phone will connect to the one with strongest signal, and switch as you move around.

- Answer Yes you can. That does make it easier as a lot of your devices should move over to the eero network without having to be manually reconnected. Some devices may not move over automatically and you'll just need to re-set those up. However you will want to either disable or change your existing wifi. Your devices won't be able to tell the difference between the two and leaving both operation can cause issues.

- Answer A single eero, no. How the eero works is you have one hardwired to your internet connection via ethernet. That will be the gateway/head eero, it will create a wireless network. If you have additional eero, those can connect to the gateway eero wired or wirelessly and they will broadcast the same network, so you'll need at least 2 eero to do what you intend.

QuestionWe have about 2300 Sq.Ft. in our home. Internet is 5g speed but sometimes goes out for reasons unknown to me. Will this system help. Modum is connected upstairs in master bedroom. How many units would I need? and Which type(s)? Thank you for your help.

- Answer The eero 6 two or three pack should be MORE than enough coverage. We had similar issues especially when it came to our basement and the surrounding brick areas. It will take some testing with the location of the devices once it’s setup but after that, it should be smooth surfing. By far the best WiFi network that we’ve ever owned. Good luck!

- Answer Yes, these will easily connect to your existing Eero 6 Router. You have already setup the main station, and then you will connect any additional units. You can create a wireless backhaul (mesh network) from these units into your existing system, but the preferred method is to connect them with Ethernet cabling to each additional unit. If you really only need the wireless backhaul, you could go with the cheaper Extender units and save yourself $30-$40 for each additional device. If you do go wireless backhaul, just plug the new unit(s) into power and they will see your existing network and add/configure them via the Eero app on your phone. If you go wired backhaul, you will need to run an Ethernet cable to each new location. You can easily connect one or more wired switches to your Eero 6 router to increase Ethernet port count and availability so that is not an issue. Heck, I have three wired switches in my house connected to my Eero 6 Routers.

- Answer Yes, these will easily connect to your existing Eero 6 (3-pack) network. You have already setup the main station, and then you connected each of the two additional units. Purchasing another will be setup the same way as the second two units were. You can create a wireless backhaul (mesh network) from these units into your existing system, but the preferred method is to connect them with Ethernet cabling to each additional unit. If you really only need the wireless backhaul, you could go with the cheaper Extender units and save yourself $30-$40 for each additional device. Your 3-pack actually only contained one of these Eero 6 Routers, as the other two devices were the cheaper Eero 6 Extenders, and you were forced to do a wireless backhaul with those. If you do go wireless backhaul, just plug the new units into power and they will see your existing network and add/configure them via the Eero app on your phone. If you go wired backhaul, you will need to run an Ethernet cable to each new location. You can easily connect one or more wired switches to your Eero 6 router to increase Ethernet port count and availability so that is not an issue. QuestionI travel the country in an RV. Internet service at RV parks is not consistent. I have a smart TV to connect to the parks internet. Will your product help or do I need a different extender?

- Answer It depends on where the source of the inconsistent connection is. If the issue is your Smart TV is not getting a good connection to the wifi provided, yes, eero will help with that. However, if the issue is the internet connection coming from the ISP, no, the eero can't help with that upstream issue. If you can we would suggest hardwire your TV directly into the internet ethernet connection, if you have the same issue there you know that is the issue that needs to be fixed. If that connection works fine, try the eero, see if it helps.
