The EERO Pro, like the EERO Home Wifi System, both transmits and receives over WiFi -- no Ethernet or Powerline adapters necessary...essentially, your "main" unit (with Eero gen 1 or Pro, it can be ANY unit) connects as the "main" router to your modem...every Eero Gen 1 and Pro comes with two ports which can be used as incoming, or outgoing. With the beacon system, the main router is the non-beacon. You can then add on Eero Gen 1s, Pros, or Beacons to your network...any (logical) number of Eeros can be set up in tandem and, furthermore, a box of three EEROs is NOT a married pair. I've installed anywhere from 1 to 9 in a single home, depending on your needs...if you get a 3-pack and only need 2, the third can be used at an entirely different location as a single unit or added onto a different set (I.E. - 1-EERO studio or 4-EERO office) They all communicate over WIFI, however, in pre-run wired homes, each one can be plugged into the ethernet network. Albeit, this is unnecessary. Likewise, PCs, TVs and other devices can be plugged into an EERO (satellite or main) and will act as if it is on LAN. Think of satellite EEROs as range extenders / access points, HOWEVER, due to their smart appliance nature and chipset, there is essentially no handoff delay and your entire network is seamless. Furthermore, they adapt to their unique install environment to best utilize each device. Tips: 1-Make sure that you ping the install locations and each unit has a strong connection to one another. 2-Don't cheap out and install less than is necessary 3-Likewise, don't overdue it and add too many, as this will cause interference. 4-The Gen 1 or Pro system is, in my professional opinion, far better than the beacons in terms of versatility -- the beacons are designed almost exclusively for hallways / staircases. 5-You can add multiple powerline adapters onto an eero network if you really need to....only in cases of metallic flooring / walls or a concrete basement was this necessary. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No Ethernet cable required on the satellite boxes. They connect wirelessly to the base unit. They just need power. During setup the app on your mobile device will help you place them in the best place for best wireless coverage. For me they worked great. Rock solid wireless with no drops including my smart Tv's. I see no buffering and no drops with these guys.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The main box has to be connected to the modem via an ethernet cable. The satellite boxes get their signal via wi-fi. You can connect 2 devices to the satellite boxes via ethernet if needed and it will be as if they are hard wired to the main unit. . The satellite boxes have to be plugged into an outlet - not a power strip - but they work really well. I'm very happy with the system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On the eero Pro all three boxes in the set are identical. You must precisely follow setup instructions and disconnect all connections to the modem except: 1) the modem power cable stays connected to the modem. 2) the DSL/Internet stays connected to the modem 3) connect power cord to a module and a wall outlet 4) connect supplied ethernet cable to just powered up module and the other end to an ethernet port on the modem 5) using an Apple or Android phone, continue as directed per supplied instructions 6) additional modules are named and setup with your phone in tow a) connect module to power outlet b) if location has structured wiring with an ethernet outlet and a wired setup is desired, connect supplied ethernet wire between module and ehternet outlet at that wall location c) if wireless setup is desired follow instructions from your phone. (having your phone in tow and following its instructions is key) 7) Repeat step 6 (WIRED or WIRELESS) for every module added (If you buy another 3 module PRO set, each can be additionally added to the setup following step 6 Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The pro series routers have ac adapters and are plugged into an outlet. They can be connected by an ethernet cable if your home is wired for a network. They communicate by wifi.
