Melodie, Yes it does. Here is my experience with the unit so far: * Temps range from 1 to 6 but can be set anywhere in between. * Number 1 only gets warm enough to keep cooked food warm. * Number 2 took about 15 mins to heat a bowl of noodle soup. * Number 4 took about 20 mins to bring 6.5 cups of water to a low boil, just hot enough to cook pasta. * Number 6 (max) took about 16 min to bring 6.5 cups of water to a full boil.

It will eventually boil, on the larger side, but it takes about 20 minutes.
