Yes, you do not need to use the app. I do not use it all the time.

Please try again later.You don’t HAVE to use the app - (bluetooth setup required to connect the mug to the app and takes a few seconds the first time you use it) *BUT* - in the app you can customize it and increase the default mug temperature that it comes set to. If you turn it all the way up to the highest setting it matches the temperature it is brewed at. Otherwise it’s set to maintain it at about 133 degrees which is about 10 degrees cooler. I believe this is why a few reviewers said it didn’t keep it as hot and they may have returned it.

In order to adjust the temperature on the Ember Mug², we would need to be connected to the Ember App. With that said, the Ember is completely capable of functioning without connection to your mobile device! Once your desired temperature has been set, Ember will remember this set temperature for each next use. Once powered on and filled with your hot beverage, Ember will regulate to your previous set temperature. If no default temperature has been set, the mug will default to 135°F.
