what does a flashing red light mean? null

Flashing red light means the (s) inserted batteries may be defective or end of useful life.

I had that happen to four AA batteries. They would not charge on this or two other chargers, so I assume that they are bad batteries.

The red flash/light means the batteries are still charging

I *think* it means that the battery cannot take a charge. This charger was able to charge some batteries of mine that Apple chargers rejected. They don’t last months or anything—they’re old and of low capacity, but still of use.
