QuestionThis model does not have an automatic document feeder like the X7100. is there a disadvantage? I'm planning on printing photos. Also, does it have the capability to scan and print delicate old photos.

- Answer Hello Mel57. The disadvantage of not having the auto document feeder is that you will not be able to load multiple pages to scan at a time. However, you can still scan documents and photos on the XP-8600 just fine. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.

QuestionI'm looking to purchase an Epson XP 8600 and want to know what size photo it can print? Also in buying ink the 312 only shows 3 colors cyan magenta and yellow. What about black? Thank You

- Answer Hi barbell, We cannot test all third party paper types on the XP-8600 so print quality cannot be guaranteed. That being said, the heaviest Epson paper type we recommend for the printer is 52 lb. Ultra Premium Presentation Matte paper. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.

QuestionCan this printer print on CD?DVD's?

- Answer I've used the Epson 800 for many years of successful cd/dvd printing, but they eventually died and the 8000 seems to be the replacement. I bought one and not happy, as it uses a different ink, when its done printing the black ink will smear. The "Help" page says to use the correct type of DCD, be sure it has not skin oil... etc. I've printed over a thousand DVD's with the 800 - NO Problems. The 8000, black smears, yes I'm using genuine EPSON INK! Is it time for me to jump to HP?? -Al

- Answer I used to demonstrate Epson printers and had access to all brands of printer and paper. One of the things I used to enjoy doing is print a photo on an Epson printer using Epson paper and Epson Claria ink (6 color) and put in a bottle of plain drinking water and put the date on the bottle. Six (6) months later the photo still looked like new with all the ink and paper fully intact. YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH ANYONE ELSE'S PRODUCTS. Epson ink and paper are designed to work together to give you photos that will last much longer than your lifetime.
