This site describes how to hide the Epson ScanSmart icon from the menu bar in macOS Catalina: https://stevenwestmoreland.com/2020/07/how-to-remove-the-epson-scansmart-icon-from-the-macos-menu-bar.html
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to uninstall the Espon Event Manager in the applications folder.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wanted to scream at the Epson "tech" on their support line when I called about this problem. She told me to Hold the CMD key, then left-click and drag the icon from the menu bar to the desktop. As you might imagine, that didn't work. So I looked in the Mac Tools ("Other") grouping in Launchpad and selected ACTIVITY MONITOR. There I found the Epson Scan Monitor line. It was triggered by the Epson ScanSmart.app. From there, I went to the Finder > Applications, and under the Epson folder, there was the Epson ScanSmart.app. Drag that to the Trash, then restart your machine. The icon problem in the menu bar is now solved, but the Scan Smart application that has tiles to decide whether the scan is one-sided or two is also gone. These two things must be linked.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It looks like nobody is answering this. I looked around too. I want this disabled. The menu tells me when it's connected and when it's disconnected and frankly it's telling me stuff I don't need to know. It's distracting and wasing space and CPU. I can operate the scanner just fine without this menu icon. Please anyone help. Apparently you can command-drag stuff around, and some icons can be command-dragged off, but this Epson iCon is persistent. At least I could disable notifications from the notifications panel. I am going to disable it by disabling it's daemon. There are lots of ways I can ruin my computer and most of these require a restart, so I'm going to sign off with with me luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you to the Anonymous poster who answered this, below. Just wanted to share that these steps worked great on my Mac Sonoma in 2025: Finder/Applications/Epson Software Uninstaller/Select "Epson Event Manager".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This was infuriating when I installed software for a ES-50. The workaround for a Windows 10 user is to delete the scanbuttonconfig files then choose to disable epsom event manager from running on startup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I ran into the same issue. I used this method to resolve the issue, I will list them, below. (for Mac OS 12.10 Finder Applications Epson Software Uninstaller Select "Epson Event Manager" The Icon will now dissapear.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a global agent that launches an assistant within the event manager. "/Applications/Epson Software/Event Manager.app/Contents/Resources/Assistants/Event Manager/EEventManager.app/Contents/MacOS/EEventManager" I used the LanuchControl App to stop that agent "com.epson.eventmanager.agent". You can look inside /Library/LaunchAgents
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm using a Mac with Catalina (10.15.4). I deleted the ScanSmart.app from the Applications/Epson folder as suggested by mkm17. It seems to have worked for me, I can still open the application Epson Scan 2 to scan and I'm still able to select single or double-sided.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.EEventMonitor can be killed in the Activity Monitor as a temporary solution.
