• A:Answer It uses one black ink and 3 color ink cartridges. It uses cartridges model Epson-252 or Epson-252XL. There are other epson printers that don't use cartridges, but are initially more expensive. This one uses cartridges, and it's intended for low-volume applications.

Q: QuestionDoes Epson WF3620 all in one printer print black only rather than gray-scale? Also if/when printing black only, uses/pulls from black ink only rather than using color inks along with black thereby depleting color inks even when not printing color?

• A:Answer It will pull from the black reservoir when printing black. It will warn you if the black reservoir is depleted and needs to mix the colors to produce black. I think it will print black instead of grayscale when requested, but could not verify that control is on the menu.
