• yes you can control what pictures rotate on the digital frame. They can rotate from your facebook acct pics, sent from your phone etc...

• Pictures are uploaded through the portal app on a smartphone or tablet. If your portal app is connected to/associated with grandparents' portal, you should be able to upload pictures of your device onto their portal. I don't think you have to be on the same network as the portal, but am not 100% sure.
