This lens is an FE lens, but it will also work on the E-mount A5100. Keep in mind it's a full frame lens, so with the A5100's APS-C sensor, it's effectively a 135mm (Read: zoomed in). It does produce really great images on an APS-C Sensor, good for upper body portraits.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the Sony FE 85mm f1.8 will be compatible with any Sony E-Mount system. On the A5100, this 85mm will act like a 130mm equivalent lens. APS-C sensors, otherwise known as crop-sensors, are 1.5x smaller than full-frame; so, to find the equivalent focal length, just multiply the focal length by 1.5 to find what you're actually shooting with. If you want to get the 85mm equivalent on your A5100, you'll have to get the Sony Sonner 55mm f1.8 to shoot at 85mm. I know this is a lot of information, but I tried to make it as user-friendly as possible. I hope this helps!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes this lens is compatible since it utilizes the e-mount system, however with the crop factor your true focal length will be 127.5 mm
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 85mm is a E-Mount lens which the Sony A5100 is as well. So yes, the two are compatiable and this lens is very well worth the money by the way.
